Disease Prevention and Treatment Month

Welcome to December, Rotary’s disease prevention month, and I bring you glad tidings this yuletide season and month of celebrations.

December is also
World AIDS Day, today, December 1st, an area we have done a lot to create awareness, carried out tests, and provided counseling over the years
International Day of Persons with Disabilities is December 3rd which recognizes the needs of persons with disabilities which we also recognize with our continued work with the Special Needs School and the upcoming project, Stitches of Ability on the 4th of December
International Universal Health Coverage Day is December 12th to promote the idea that everyone everywhere should have access to affordable health care where we help advocate especially considering the current economic conditions and the plight of many including our Sickle Cell Warriors who can’t afford basic care to ease their suffering.

Rotary is dedicated to fighting and preventing disease. Disease Prevention and Treatment is one of Rotary’s Seven Area of Focus. Disease and illness result in physical and mental pain. Prolonged severe illness may result in loss of employment and income, which will ultimately affect families and quality of life.

Rotary and Rotarians are committed to helping people to live healthy lives. The health and vitality of a person, a family, and a community can be seriously impaired by what, in many cases, is preventable.

Rotarians world wide are working relentlessly with the support of our friends and families to provide medical care, create awareness and advocate for the government and civil societies to take action to ensure timely and adequate access to care and healthy living
As Rotarians, we make a difference in the world. We create magic through impactful and sustainable projects.
Thank you for your selfless service to humanity!
