RP INAUGURAL SPEECH

Dear Friends and Fellow Rotarians,
It is a pleasure to welcome you into the new Rotary Year and an honor to be chosen as 8th president to lead this club in the tradition of service above self. Though it is a daunting time to be serving as president, I know I will be working with some great Rotarians and friends to cushion the ride.
I would like to thank our dear IPP Gogo Charles for successfully leading the way thus far by spreading hope to the world.

This year is themed, “The Magic of Rotary, ” in which we are enjoined to spread the magic of Rotary in irresistible ways as we adapt to a constantly changing world by engaging our members and communities and expanding our reach beyond our imagination. We can’t do this by just waving a wand, like Rotary International President Stephenie Urchick said, “You create the magic with every project completed, every dollar donated, and every new member inducted”, I will like to add member retention which is fundamental in expanding our reach.
Together as a team, we will expand our club’s reach, our membership, and foundation giving and ensure sustainable project delivery in all areas of focus with the District Emphasis as our guide.

In line with our commitment to grow membership, give to foundation and deliver sustainable projects, we have already given $1,750 to start the year, and we have three laudable projects lined up for the month of July to tackle malnutrition in young children, treat and prevent diseases in mother and child, peace building, and upskilling the youths for peace and sustainable development. We have already executed two projects in partnership with other Rotary clubs to provide funds for the Handmaid’s Nursary/Primary School for the sighted and visually impaired, and with the Carrington Youth Fellowship for a conference on Waste Innovation and Pollution Eradication. We also have one new member and a returning member to be inducted

I know these are challenging times, but together, as the Irresistible Prime Movers, as named by DG Ikegwani, we will deliver on the task ahead.
I wish to thank all the board members, fellow Rotarians, and friends for your selfless service and constant support. You are priceless.

Thank You,

Yours in Service,
Yvonne S. Iwo-Brown
Rotary President 2024-2025
